The big question
Can a modern car become a Japanese icon that reminds us of the 2000s, the peak of Japanese style?
A Toyota GT86 done in an unusual take on 2000s Japanese style, styled as cover art.
Our goal was to capture what people look back on warmly now: the old D1 GP days, the Japanese drift series that in those years was only starting to take off and fill every page of the magazines.

The brief
Show as much detail as possible and get across the spirit of Japanese culture in stylised vector artwork, with TRD colours worked into it. There was also the task of making sticker packs, a banner and other small pieces that add up to a complete picture.

“I wanted the car to look like it came off a 2000s magazine cover, and that is exactly what I got. Absolutely love it.
